Brilliant Nigerian lady bags masters degree in Energy at UK university, wins overall best student award

A brilliant Nigerian lady named Chidiogo Mbelede has bagged a master’s degree in Energy at Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom and won the award as the overall best-performing postgraduate student.

Chidiogo obtained her bachelor’s degree in Petroleum engineering with first-class honors at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana before she proceeded to the United Kingdom to further her postgraduate studies.

She went on to bag her master’s degree in Energy and Economics at Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom, and won an award for the overall best performing master’s student in the university.

Chidiogo took to LinkedIn to celebrate her achievement of earning her master’s. She shared that transitioning into economics for her postgraduate studies as an engineer was a difficult journey for her but she was determined to give her best.

”I embarked on what I consider the most daunting academic pursuit of my life yet, a postgraduate program in economics! As an engineer, it seemed a completely different field but I made a commitment to give it my best shot because whatever is worth doing is worth doing well, right,” she said.

Chidiogo mentioned that the academic journey was challenging as she had to shuffle between Lagos & Edinburgh, United Kingdom while working full-time in Nigeria. She added that she was also running her own business, ‘House of Coco’.

She stated that even though she worked towards graduating with good grades she never expected to finish as the overall best performing student. She said she is truly honored to have received the recognition from Heriot-Watt University.

Chidiogo thanked God for the strength & resilience to successfully master the science of Energy Economics. She also thanked her dissertation supervisor & academic advisor for her support and guidance throughout the entire course of her program.

She stated that her mental health is grateful to her family, friends, and loved ones for their constant support and encouragement adding that they believed in her abilities with top-notch confidence.

Chidiogo said her academic journey at the university was a beautiful one and she is excited for the next phase of her career as an energy professional.
