In a recent interview with VogueΒ (USA) magazine, Ms. Sanchez wanted to clarify something that many people misunderstand, which is that the wooden statue installed at the bow of billionaire Jeff Bezos’ $500 million super yacht is not never portrayed her.
“I’m very happy that there are people who think I’m the prototype of the statue, but in reality I’m not,” Ms. Sanchez affirmed. She believes that if the statue really depicts her, its bust must be… larger. Mr. Bezos named the expensive super yacht Koru. In the language of the Maori people living in New Zealand, Koru means “new beginning”.
Mr. Bezos requested that a wooden statue be installed at the bow of the yacht, so that his “sea castle” would be protected by a goddess. The wooden statue depicts Mr. Bezos’s favorite goddess, the goddess Freyja, a goddess who appears in Norwegian myths. Goddess Freja symbolizes love, fertility, wealth and war.

Every year, billionaire Bezos has to spend $25 million to maintain and care for the Koru yacht. The yacht can accommodate 18 guests at the same time. To operate the ship, billionaire Bezos needs a crew of about 40 people.
