KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A fashion choice by Taylor Swift has sent thousands of customers to a Brookside Small business. On Sunday, the pop icon wore a one-of-a-kind item from the shop that sent Chiefs fans into a frenzy. The item is now sold out and will not be available until the first week of March.
“I got a text from my manager saying, ‘Taylor Swift wore our ring.’ I was like, ‘What is happening? This is not possible,’” said Emily Bordner, the Owner and Creative Director of EB and Co., the shop that made Taylor’s ring.
Bordner has been in business for 11 years, and at her Brookside location for almost five. She says she hasn’t had time to rest since the nation saw her ring on Taylor’s finger.
“I haven’t really slept since. My stomach is in knots,” she said. “We were just like, ‘What do we do? What do we do?’ then the sales started, and they just haven’t stopped.”
The store does not know the backstory of how Taylor got the ring, but they are working to find out more.
“We have a theory that Donna [Kelce] gifted it to her,” Bordner said.
Bordner told KCTV5 she saw an untapped market to pursue in the realm of sports jewelry, so she launched a “Kansas City Collection” this year. KC, and the city’s adopted music superstar, are now wearing her creations.
“This is the first year that we’ve actually had our custom pieces and the idea that it actually got on Taylor Swift’s fingers is just bananas,” Bordner said.
The ring has become so popular that is has sold out. The store has other Chiefs items in stock, but they won’t have more of Taylor’s ring until the first week of March.
“My mom is coming in, asking for rings, and I have to turn her down,” said Bordner. “That’s what I keep telling people. They’re like, ‘Do you have any, anywhere? Did you happen to find one?’ I’m like, ‘No, dude. If I can’t give my mom one, I can’t give you one.’”
If you are interested in getting a ring like Taylor’s, Bordner says the best way to do that is to pre-order one online. You can do so here. The rings cost $14.
